COTOPAXI National park

Upon our arrival, we will go to the interpretation center to learn about the highest active volcano in the world and the history of its major eruptions as well as about the local flora and fauna.

Then we will continue our visit towards Limpiopungo (or "open door") lagoon where excellent pictures of Cotopaxi, Sincholagua and Rumiñahui can be taken from one of the most beautiful locations of the Ecuadorian Andes. Our visit will end at the farm house.

If we stay at the Park the whole day, we will reach the refuge on the volcano's foothills at 4,800 meters above sea level. Then we will visit Pucará del Salitre, the ancient Inca military fortress that controlled the "incañanes", or old roads to the jungle, and the valley of Latacunga.
